Rules & Regulations - Prerna Awards

Objective

The Prerna Awards foster excellence in language, storytelling, and creativity by providing a platform for participants to express their ideas, develop presentation skills, and stay connected to their roots and cultural heritage. The competition promotes language as a form of communication and self-expression, a vital skill for the 21st century.


Registration

  • Registration is valid only upon payment confirmation acknowledged by Global Hindi Foundation Pte. Ltd., Singapore.

  • Submissions may be made via:

    • Website submission

    • Designated partner organizations

    • Email submission with participant’s details and language category


Entry Guidelines

  • Entries must follow one of the given themes.

  • Submissions may be made in any Indian language within the registered age group.

  • Each entry should include:

    1. Title of submission, Age & Language

    2. Participant’s Name

    3. Contact details (phone & email)

    4. Registration number (provided after payment)

    5. Short personal introduction (≤50 words) in English

    6. Short summary of submission (≤100 words) in English/Hindi

  • Submissions can include Prose, Poetry, Animation, Comic Strips, Dramatic Reading, Playacting, Puppetry, or other creative mediums.


Presentation Guidelines

  • Shortlisted participants will be invited to present their work before a jury panel.

  • Presentations must be original. Any plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

  • Storytelling can combine research, imagination, and personal experience.

  • Presentation duration: 2–10 minutes.

  • Props, gestures, and expressions are allowed.

  • Notes (on small cards) may be used for reference.

  • Content should be respectful and appropriate; vulgarity, offensive humor, slander, or cultural stereotypes are not permitted.

  • Participants should dress neatly and appropriately for the occasion.

  • Judges’ decision will be final and binding.


Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged on the following:

  • Concept & Presentation

  • Voice and Tone

  • Creativity & Innovation

  • Organization & Cohesion

Storytelling Presentations will be evaluated on:

  • Fluency and confidence

  • Creative expression and intonation

  • Originality and imagination

  • Poise and stage presence


Prizes

Awards will be given in each category:
🏆 Best Entry – Gold
🥈 First Runner-Up – Silver
🥉 Second Runner-Up – Bronze
📜 Certificates of Appreciation for Honorable Mentions
📜 Certificates of Participation for all contestants

Selected entries may also be published online or in e-publications.


General Rules

  1. Only original and unpublished entries will be accepted.

  2. Participants may submit entries in more than one language, but can win only one award.

  3. All submissions will be judged anonymously.

  4. By submitting, participants grant Global Hindi Foundation Pte. Ltd. the right to publish or reproduce their work (with credit to the author).

  5. Entry fees are non-refundable.

  6. The decision of the judges is final and cannot be contested.

  7. Inappropriate language or content will lead to disqualification.

  8. The competition is governed by Singapore Law, and any disputes will fall under Singapore jurisdiction.

  9. Winners will be invited to attend the award ceremony. Travel and additional costs are the responsibility of the participants.
